Model licensing and ownership

A plain-language summary of what you can do with the models you make. The terms of service are the binding version.

Ownership of outputsYou own them outright
Commercial useAllowed on every plan, no attribution needed

After you cancelCommercial rights in models made while subscribed stay with you

Whether AI-generated content can be protected by copyright differs between countries and is still being settled by courts and copyright offices. threeD assigns to you whatever rights we have in your outputs, but we cannot promise that a given output is protectable in your jurisdiction. If that matters for your project, ask a qualified lawyer.

Your inputs

Prompts, images and models you upload stay yours. You give threeD permission to process them only to provide the service. They are not used to train models unless you turn on Help improve threeD in settings, which is off by default.

You are responsible for having the rights to what you upload. A 3D model made from someone else’s design, character or trademark does not remove their rights. See the acceptable use policy.

Similar outputs

Generative models can produce similar results for similar prompts, so another user may receive a model resembling yours. Ownership covers your specific output, not the idea or style behind it.

Sample models on this website

The 3D models shown in the hero, demos and gallery are not threeD outputs. They come from Poly Haven and from the Khronos Group’s glTF-Sample-Assets repository and are dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0. We resized and re-encoded their textures. Each gallery page credits the original authors and links to the source files.
